In chemical production, liquid conveying equipment often needs to move fluids from one location to another to meet process requirements. Sometimes, this requires increasing the fluid's pressure or creating a vacuum within the equipment. This requires the use of conveying equipment that provides energy to the fluid. Conveying equipment that provides energy to liquids is called a pump, while equipment that provides energy to gases is called a fan or compressor. These are the most commonly used general-purpose equipment in chemical plants, and therefore also called general-purpose machinery. The fluids conveyed in chemical production are diverse, and their operating conditions and conveying volumes vary significantly. The conveying equipment used must be able to meet these diverse production requirements. Chemical production is often a continuous process, and sudden interruptions can result in serious accidents. Therefore, conveying equipment must be safe and reliable. Conveying equipment consumes power during operation, and power costs directly impact product costs. Therefore, various conveying equipment must operate at high efficiency to reduce power consumption.
